Senior Process Engineer – Carbon Capture and Gas Treatment
The candidate will be requested to support the development, optimization, and execution of process solutions aimed to capture CO2 from industrial exhaust gasses and you will be accountable to navigate towards the most innovative engineering solutions.
The CO2 absorption processes portfolio of decarbonized solutions are based on aqueous solutions, i.e., mixtures of amines, ammonia (Chilled Ammonia Process) or ammonia plus salts (Mixed Salt Process), and comprise flue gas conditioning section, absorption section, regeneration section and solvent recovery and storage section.
Main responsibilities:
- Participating to the full process design starting from early project stages supporting feasibility, pre-FEED, FEED and EPC activities to position CO2 Capture technologies and solutions and you could also be involved in other technologies ranging from Geothermal Plants to Gas Treatment and Liquefaction Plants (LNG);
- Performing simulations for the entire CO2 capture process plant, with the use of specific software i. e. Aspen Plus, OLI, Promax Hysys;
- Executing all process deliverables and activities such as process simulations, heat & material balance, pressure drops and hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing process narratives, PFDs, P&IDs up to ‘as built’ level, technical specifications ensuring high quality documentation;
- Providing technical guidance to the process team for Carbon Capture technologies;
- Executing continuously solvent screening and assessments with reference to latest information from industry and literature. Supporting experimental test campaigns for the validations of optimized process configurations;
- Participating to techno-economic analysis for individual or overall optimizations. Participating and contribute to design reviews and safety reviews (Hazid, Hazop, FERA, FMEA, etc.) from conceptual to detailed design.
Requirements:
- Have a MSc. in Chemical or Mechanical engineering;
- Have proven experience in process engineering and carbon capture technology, including a general understanding of solvent selection and its impact on the process design. Mixed Salt Process and Chilled Ammonia Process technologies in-depth expertise will be considered preferential;
- Have Aspen Plus and OLI in-depth expertise (preferential);
- Have knowledge about packing design and selection, for separation and absorption, from gas to liquid and vice versa. Experiences with packing suppliers and their related products (i.e. CDS, Sulzer…);
- Have general knowledge of the various gas purification technologies based on the different separation techniques, i.e., absorption, adsorption, distillation, filtration, etc.
- Have Knowledge of International Codes like API, ANSI, ASME;
- Have experience working in a team involved in design and development of new products;
- Have excellent written and verbal communications skills. Fluency in English is essential.
