Non-Post-Combustion Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage Technology Leader

 

 

The Non-Post-Combustion Carbon Capture, Utilization & Storage (NPC CCUS) Technology Leader is the ‘Design Authority’ developing technologies for high energy efficient carbon capture solutions and to enable the utilization and storage of CO2.

The NPC CCUS Technology Leader is responsible for technology scouting and selection, process conceptual design and optimization, basis of design definition, critical equipment selection and design tools development within the Plant & Module Engineering. He/she defines the integration level between equipment portfolio and technology requirements, identifying gaps and supporting Product Leadership launching new product introduction.

NPC CCUS technologies include:

 

  • Non-Post-Combustion Capture   
    • Gas Processing Unit (GPU) of Oxy Combustion (OXY)
    • Membranes
    • Direct air capture (DAC)
  • CO2 Utilization & Storage
    • CO2 Monetization/Chemicals production (Ethylene/Methanol)
    • Building materials
    • CO2 Storage (Saline Aquifer; EOR)

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Represent technologies scope in the internal engineering teams and in technical meetings towards the customer;
  • Ensure that the process design of his technology application is according to well known rules, regulations codes and standards and according to good engineering practise;
  • Compliance with the Quality and HSE rules from the product company and corporate within the area of responsibility;
  • Ensure a coordinated approach in all areas with the other Engineering Teams;
  • Ensure leadership and motivation by establishing an open and broad communication of the principles, objectives and targets for implementations of the technology within Plant & Module Engineering including feedback communication;
  • Maintain identification of training needs, planning, execution and follow-up of the appropriate training as required for the implementation of the respective technologies;
  • Manage and perform studies, technical information packages and provide the technological input for studies, technical information packages, process design and basic engineering packages also as part of FEEDs and during detail engineering;
  • Support sales activities (e.g. technical presentations to costumers);
  • Maintain product knowledge through the assessment of reference plants and commercial product feedback;
  • Create, maintain, and apply process design manuals, process sizing tools and operating envelopes;
  • Compile the design manual and organize a proper archiving of all relevant documents for each technology with the applicable tools;
  • Support EPC execution during engineering execution of specific projects based on the delivered basic engineering package;
  • Make sure through proper reviews that the key deliverables (e.g. PFD, H&MB, major equipment) comply with the relevant design manual and take actions for mitigation of risks whenever the design is outside the envelope or well-documented experience;
  • Participate in “review meetings” of key documents (e.g. PFD, PID, HAZOP, etc.) in person or on call depending on availability and prepare standard supervisory operating manual of the respective scope of technology.

 

Requirements:

  • Have a PhD or Master's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering;
  • Demonstrate deep technical leadership experience, with a solid business acumen and customer mindset;
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications skills in English and proven success in working across the business functions and global teams;
  • Show deep technical expertise with chemical engineering background;
  • Have experience with a focus on managing chemical technologies, designing and developing new products;
  • Have experience with New Product Development (NPD) process, Lean Principles, and management methodologies;
  • Be able to identify goals or objectives, develop plans and strategies and show the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
